The P8 that landed 12 this morning at 0332L I only picked up on dump1090 about 150nm North, when he got closer 50nm or so Flightaware multilateration plotted him and kept it to short final.
Not sure if 360Radar plotted him, I do feed them as well but wasn't watching at the time :)

Not helped by very very few of them inputting their callsign into the FMC either.

1442L P8 plotting on 360Radar 200nm NW at FL300.
Showing as 168438/AE4EBC

My aerial + Flightaware Multilateration started plotting at 180nm.

Maybe not enough coverage around KEF then but shouldn't new planes like these be transmitting full ADS-B positions?

They don't transmit position/not full ADS-B, just like Loganair, FlyBe and a lot of other MIL and small civil.

The positions you see on virtual radar sites are basically triangulated based on data from 3 or more aerials (4 or 5 usually needed for accurate position + height).

If you feed Flightaware they send back this "Multilaterated" computed (by them) data from you and the local uploaders.

In 360Radars case the data is kept, used and put online for their paid subscribers and free for contributors, it is the best for UK traffic by far.

In ADS-B Exchange they seem to have fewer contributors (for UK) and if those feed Flightaware and get back FA MLAT data, this is then sent to ADS-B Echange ..... which is sort of taking without asking.

TRDNT28 filed to depart at 6pm to Keflavik. Filed reg 169003 but note these are often errors so caution advised.
