And in January ? what chance that the weather sticks it’s ugly head in . Good luck to those who go ,
hope it’s better than the last one .
Steve.
Steve, I'm torn between registering for this, going to Lakenheath for the Iranian Tomcats that are due on that day or staying at Mildenhall for the B-2 which still hasn't turned up.

Merry Christmas

Have to laugh at the whingers on social media.
Claims of elitism and favouritism - what a load of Meat and two veg. An event like this was always going to be over subscribed so most people were going to be disappointed. Win some, lose some. On this occasion I lost. C’est la vie.

Exactly blue diamond. Other people saying ‘They should host another one, it would be good for charity” - No, you are just desparate to get on there!!

Unfortunately, it is one of those tough things in life. All about a bit of luck as to when you saw the post. First fome first serve - end of!!

You will get just as good shots from outside the fence at Marham as those served up on a plate at an event.

Besides the tornados have been around for quite a long time and seen at one time or another at virtually every UK military airfield , and in the past with much nicer camouflage.

Good luck to those who get on Marham but I like my tornados either in the air OR at the EOR with full chest rattling after burners.

I will probably get a bit of stick for this but first come first served is a little bit unfair in some ways to the elder generation who may not be glued to face book ( I realized that is a generalisation) of to people with a disability who perhaps can't reply or have limited internet access ( another generalisation)

I would prefer to see a lottery style whereby there is a window to apply and then Marham pick 500 or whatever lucky dips.

I accept it is their event and they can do whatever they like and personally I don't care because I can go to Marham any time being a retired old fart!

Slogen - I do agree with you to an extent there as you are right, it does seem unfair. However, when the majority of your audience is on the most common form of social media then they will believe it is best to publish it that way - and ‘first come first serve’ is a tried and tested method.

I do love them in the air and the burners as well BUT they still look awesome up close and personal ;)

Also - I wouldn’t recommend being at the fence that day as the notam suggest the AD is closed so I don’t have much hope for flying!! ;)

Would be a much fairer way of doing things :thumb:
And nothing to do with sour grapes, as I didn't apply.

I can't accept first come first serve ( law of the jungle) is any better than a lottery? A lottery is far more inclusive and makes all those whom are interested feel they have the same chance as the next 'togger' - funny lot you photographers - stick to numbers much less stressful :)

I don't mean the fence on that specific date but rather on any normal operational day - pay your money and take your chance and get your own shots, that is what makes the hobby worth while for me.

Yeah I see what you are saying there, it is a method that could work...Maybe in the future!

Exactly, take your chances, and do what you enjoy most to make the hobby work for you.

Moaning All ;)

By sheer coincidence I have been trolling through old snaps, came across this one of a nicely painted Tornado. Noting this post lamenting the imminent passing of the type, I am inserting it as a historic shot/trip down Memory Lane.

My usual low standard [shooting into the sun, etc] but at least it is on record

I got a shot of those two at Waddington in 2013, one of which was later requested by the pilot:

I’ve paid the £25 and submitted the form, but have not received any confirmation of both the money or form. Has anyone else had the same?

Hi Harvo,

Yes same here, have not heard anything back from them - This is usual. As long as you paid in time then you’ll be fine. Feel free to ping them an email just to confirm your payment and I’m sure you’ll get a reply. I did that in the past.
