Cruzeiro do Sul Exercise (CRUZEX) 2018

Post by pako-2008 » Sat Jan 05, 2019 3:29 pm

Towards the end of November 2018, the eighth edition of the South American exercise was staged at Natal Air Base in the host country of Brazil.

Having been on a five year hiatus due to the Confederations Cup, World Cup and Olympics absorbing a number of resources; the Força Aérea Brasileira re-ignited the largest exercise on the continent seeing participation in excess of 100 aircraft from seven different Nations along with personnel from a further seven.

The latest exercise saw a more refined approach to operations having not taken place for five years, with more of a focus on unconventional warfare scenarios in which combat is against insurgent or paramilitary forces and not between two constituted States. CRUZEX is now more in line with exercises we see here in Europe such as Frisian Flag and Iniochos mirroring a modern day coalition warfare environment.

Here's a small selection of shots from the second week in Natal:

Amazing pictures. Could the Chilean F-16's be ex-Dutch?

That Peruvian A37 is just stunning !!!
Its gonna rain, its gonna rain till the levee breaks, a tidal wave of fear and pain washes us away, another fight into the night until nothing else remains, how do we find harbour from the Hurricane?

Just brilliant. Rare aircraft, even rarer air forces and outstanding images. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
