Not seen anything, but I'm not surprised if they have reduced it to be honest

Cheers Pete.

If I'm honest, I don't think it's a massive issue?

Yeah I can imagine it's pee'd off a lot of campers but is it really a big surprise? Think it was going to happen a lot sooner rather than later.

I know last year totterdown had a 500ft height restrictions overhead, but this never seemed to be the case on show days? The only thing that seemed to follow this routing was helicopters due to the bird strike and FOD risk due to downwash.

I've spoken to a guy on the riat team and he informs me that this is only a height restrictions map, but the person who shared the map on social media seems to "know" somebody inside too.

I was wondering if it is just a height restriction. Guess we'll see sooner or later, I'm not too fussed as I'm in the showground

UPDATE! A transatlantic flight by a civilian-registered Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) taking part in next month’s Air Tattoo is set to usher in a new era in unmanned aviation.

As the first transatlantic RPA flight to land in the UK, it signals the beginning of a new chapter in the history of aviation and brings closer the possibility that one day, airlines may routinely operate aircraft remotely.

The General Atomics Aeronautical Systems’ MQ-9B SkyGuardian is due to take off from its base in North Dakota and embark on 4,000-mile journey to RAF Fairford.

Read more about this exciting update! bit.ly/2yGgIPL
Landing on the 11th, think it'll be on the static lineup!

Why isn't the flypast on friday not the same as the one for RAF100 earlier that week, saves a lot of practicing I would say?

At a guess, cost.

time cost, people cost, fuel cost etc.

Putting up to 100 a/c up at the same time isnt cheap.

And also, it's not the "official" flypast, there'd be a lot less at RIAT then going over London

The original press release moths ag stated a repeat of the London flypast. Of course pretty sure all releases have been changed to suit what is currently planned

NOTICE: Closure of Footpath and Cycle Way, Whelford Road, Whelford - closed during the period 9 July until 17 July 2018.

For reasons of safety, Gloucestershire County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily close a section of footpath and cycle way to prevent large numbers of viewing pedestrians from standing under the approach flight path and on the edge of the roadway in close proximity of moving vehicular traffic.

The section of footpath and cycle way to be closed will be in Whelford Road between the start of the footpath and cycle way opposite the ‘telephone box’, for a distance of approximately 650 metres in a south westerly direction towards Kempsford. Fencing to facilitate this will be erected and at specific times stewards will be provided at both ends of this section to ensure compliance.

An alternative footpath and cycle track will be constructed using metal tracking to run parallel to the existing footpath and cycle way on the south east, or other side of the fence line using adjacent agricultural land thereby channelling pedestrians and cyclists away from the area.

This footpath and cycle way will be closed during the period 9 July 2018 until 17 July 2018.

We strongly advise anyone looking to gather along the Whelford Road to make other arrangements, for your own safety and the safety of others. Air Tattoo tickets are still available for Friday 13 and Sunday 15 July and Park & View is still available in advance for aircraft arrivals on Tuesday 10 and Thursday 12 July and on-the-day for Wednesday 11 and Monday 16 July (Departures). Buy HERE: bit.ly/2qVNR2B
To be honest, I'm surprised this never happened sooner.

And to be honest i'm not sure if they will be directly flying over townsend farm. You might be lucky there.

It's been long overdue, a closure like this of this scale. End of the day, if you would like to watch the show, then buy tickets (this applies to a lot of people, not just you mate)
