Just watching the highlights and the commentator said after Kane scored the 1st penalty that nobody does it better, Bet he was not saying that after the 2nd

Referee was truly awful. Best team lost sadly. Also the ITV jinx stuck again, need to ban them from any England games

England v France:-

- the team that played the better game won, deservedly so.
- a missed penalty, by the captain, is a definite game loser.
- seldom have I seen a man look so bored with himself - no charisma, no personality, no leader of men - citizen Kane.
- the game was dominated by French élan, superior tactics, and lightning counter-attack.

Obsessed with antiquated knee-taking, dour captaincy, overpaid and intoxicated with their own self-importance - a toxic cocktail for defeat.

As an only mildly interested spectator, I am patriotic, so have watched the England matches. In my 80 years I have been to only one professional match. Sadly, I have to agree with Tally-ho on all his remarks. In my non-expert armchair] opinion the best and most adventurous team won. It was little to do with the referee. We failed to get the ball in the net on numerous occasions, whereas the French did.

Yes the best team won probably

France are the current world champions but we pushed them close. On another day blah blah

Agree with that, the French showed more endeavour than us, we are not quick enough with our forward play and seems we are allergic to crossing the ball into the penalty area, Giroud scores their second goal from such a cross with a header, how many times did you see us do that. We have seen it all many times in the past England getting defeated to a better team and failing to reach a World Cup final, 1966 aside.

Oh, I just thought that they all needed to tie their shoe laces at exactly the same time!

Did any other Nation at the World Cup do it? The USA didn't!

Disagree there,John.
The key stats are:
England - shots 16, on target 8, corners 5
France - shots 8, on target 5, corners 2

England also gave away fewer fouls.

For the neutral it was a cracking game.

Point taken Iain. However my impression was that we tended to be far more cautious in our long passing, and spent too long trying to organise shots in the penalty area. Perhaps even more hit and hope might just have worked better Enjoyed it as a match though. :)

Ronaldo exiting in tears- what a shame.
Spoilt wee laddie needs to give up football for good! I expect that kind of behaviour out of the likes of Wato Kuate and Gavin Gunning, but not from a player who has had the career that Ronaldo has.

And just in case there is doubt as to who i am rooting for now, c'mon Morroco!
