I bet the farmers pull some pretty big strings on the parish or local council and can bye- law the lay-by shut or can they?

I liked the wave when it was part cafe and part hobbyist book shop.

But the location is pretty good let's be honest with plenty of parking toilets and food and drink and close to the fence across a busy road

I am not really complaining because you don't have to go there - Oops but yes you do because every other historical parking spot has restrictions! I think when road closures erode personal liberties then it leaves a bad taste. The authorities want to corral us like cattle. We are British and expect a choice and the lay by should be open for normal use.
May I play devil's advocate for a moment. Let us think why it was felt necessary to introduce the parking restrictions around Waddington,, and I don't mean just on this occasion.

They were almost certainly introduced as a result of inconsiderate and dangerous parking by individuals on the roads around the base. Hence the restrictions were brought in to make the area safer. I wonder who all the people were who parked in stupid places, probably those now moaning about the restrictions.

And yes I am a LCC tax payer and no I do not think they are wasting my money when safety is paramount. Lincolnshire has a very high accident rate and anything to minimise the risk is welcomed.

Completely agree with what you've said re the reasons for making tower lane no parking - but the closure of the layby and Bloxholme Lane still boggles. The layby is a safe place to park off road. Bloxholme lane is a much quieter side road than the A15 with a fair few pull ins to park off the road.

Also noticed yesterday the road to the northern gate of the base has no parking cones on it, not sure what they expect you to see from there! 😂.

Government exercise website updated, suggests ex runs daily - guess we'll know from the callsigns used.

Hi everyone

As I can't make it over for the first week of the EX... I took the opportunity to get the jets this morning just incase any swaps or tech issues happen in the first week.

Just drove around the base... never seen so many roadside grass verges conned off.. all around the base with roads speeds from 50mph - 40mph and down to 30mph as you pass the wave.

Lots of laybys... pull ins and road closures in place as per the posts above.

Italians jets visable at the bottom end of the field with four in a line then a small gap to the 5th one.

German AF Tornado's all visable in a line nose on to the A15... a couple of Sentinels by the A15 and two Airseekers mid field. .. sorry no serials on the Airseekers as nowhere to park up :(

Hope this helps.

🇺🇦 🌻 🇺🇦

The current trend could be a drive by suppliers of pushbike and car racks!

A further thought. This might well be how it will be for the future and watching RAFAT training.

Thanks for posting the Info. Does that Document apply to this Waddington part of Cobra Warrior for 2022? It's headed "Exercise Cobra Warrior...Flying times 3 to 23 September 2022, 9am to 1pm daily.....Aircraft type. = Transport"
I'm hoping I'm not afflicted with Early Onset Stupidity, but none of that Doc' detail is credible to me? Prior to this Post somebody inferred that flying of Tornado & Typhoon jets from Waddington would be PM....so bear the sun location in mind? (Probably not significant as Sun totally obscured all day I think? ;) )
The aircraft type is surely NOT Transport? Dates of 03rd through 23rd maybe "inclusive period", but Reaper493 has already posted the type of exercise operational days one might expect...Week1-Mon/Wed's & Friday. Wk2-Tues & Thursday. Week 3-Mon/Wed's & Friday.
On recent years form they DO fly on other days, but not necessarily Exercise profiles. Previously not 9am-1pm all 21 days in Transport a/c IIRC?

Ah that's a good spot supra!

The original dates I posted for the different patterns came from a contact who has a friend associated with the running of the ex, but no times were given.

It was believed to be AM sorties as per previous year's, but someone did indeed say it was pm sorties.

I guess all will be revealed and confirmed over the next few days - that site was accurate last time but agree there's some issues on it this time!!

Got all the times and info ok thanks all. But ? Does anyone know who's attacking who. Who's on the goodies side and who gets to play the aggressors, considering 100 squadrons gone ? What about the contract for a firm of aggressors flying pocket rockets 'McDonald Douglass Skyhawks and old mig 29s and the like. Are they operational yet. I thought they were going to operate out of Tees Side airport. I've seen the exercise patch badges at £10 each. I can remember buying French beautifully engraved Mirage 2000 ones on a ACMI meet for 50p ? I know it's the inflation

I wonder how the parking is at the WAVE this morning?

Hoping to make the journey later in the exercise and would appreciate knowing at what time its filling up

Previously if the car park gets full parking is available further south near the fire training area.

If I'm dropped off and walk down to gate 5,can you get right up to the gate? When the Israeli were there it wasn't a problem.I am thinking of doing this over next weekend.

There are some reports the German AF Tornados from Cobra Warrior went to LFA7 today, can anyone confirm?

That Clown Ronald gets everywhere! Slight but pertinent thread-drift follows..it's "McDonnell Douglas". There is indeed a proposal to operate Aggressor jets from Teesside IAP in the form of L159E Honeybadger aircraft to act as Red Air assets following the 100 Sqn disbandment. The Operator is currently enduring the microscopic attention of the CAA. prior to an expected approval in the next two months. :'( (was July 1st?) In my view it appears that Draken are having a rough time both here & abroad whilst Top Aces run riot in this business sector. The USAF have already 'moved their goalposts' & the RAF don't exactly inspire confidence when they keep dithering on the the UK's Next Generation Operational Training (NGOT) programme!

I can't find on here when the exercise finishes 26/9? I am sure it will be in here somewhere

I am back to needing one EF2000 ( MM7317) at Waddington but don't particularly want to go just for one but if the support turns up before they depart of at least on the same day then that makes life easier

23/9 is the final possible day of the ex, so presumably they will start to leave on the 26th?

Unless the 23rd isn't actually needed, and they depart 22nd/23rd?

Also read a comment on FB from someone on TLG51 that they depart on the 19th.

With today's sad news, I could well see the rest of the exercise being cancelled.
