Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
I think I would prefer to take my chances against a 10yr old Mirage than a 40 yr old F-15. The F-16AM is a very capable airframe and in the right hands would be a credible foe even for the likes of a Typhoon/Mirage 2K-5/Gripen.
Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
What about pilot training ? The current Mirage / Skyhawk pilots might be able to simply read the notes and fly the F-16. Different thing to take them to war ?Nighthawke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:03 pmAge alone doesn't define the capability of an aircraft so don't know what your point really is.

Doesn’t look as though there will be any Argentinian/UK dogfights anytime soon…

This Argentinian NATO application is another ruse inspired by those allegedly duplicitous Turkish members who are still sore about the Wooden Horse stunt way back!...imo.
How many other NATO members aside from Turkey have Russian missile systems?
For Argentina, just join NATO & whilst everyone is facing forward they can do dastardly s**t in the background?
It's right up there with Huawei installing AI in the UK for stupidity. Remember... "Always expect the unexpected!" a wise old man from Hawaii once said!

A slightly more educated version
Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
In your opinion?
Did I dream that Pres' Pukin persuaded Ukraine to give all it's nuclear weapons bombers back to Mother Russia in exchange for security assurances from the Russian Federation, the United States and Britain in 1994.
Quite possibly those same bombers are now being used against Ukraine for delivering non-nuclear weapons. Good deal that wasn't?
What seems a reasonably good idea today, may not be tomorrow?

Well yes as NATO clearly isn't on the bottle every night, and I seem to recall it was President Yeltsin (doing the same)at the time... So yes you were clearly dreaming about Putin.
Oh and a wee bit of research will tell you that all but 1 or 2 of the Tu-22M3s were scrapped the pair of survivors went to museums. Only 3 of the 20 Tu95MS Bear Hs survived to be returned to Russia the rest were scrapped apart from another 2 that went to museums. The Tu-160s faired slightly better 8 of the 9 survivors going home leaving 1 in a museum giving Uncle Vodka Drinker a grand total of 17... As for new production of Tu-160M2s well production of your favourite US Stealth fighter is quick than their single -160M2
