Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Any idea of an ID for No. 2 yet? ZK314 seems to be popping up only:
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Can anyone help with an ID for the Red Arrows Hawk Jet - RED 11 - which landed at Edinburgh Airport after the Flypast please.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Got them both at Edinburgh airport. Fantastic!!! Good to see it was a duo.
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Just a guess, but with the low light & later start time, had the Typhoons been in formation with the A400, there would be little to no chance of actually seeing them. Without the A400, the Typhoons were able to light the burners. To boot, we'll probably be reading in the local papers about all the car alarms they set off on their way through. Vandal Jr has just been telling me some have already taken to Twitter or X or whatever it is now to say they got a bit of a fright with the noise.
Or maybe those at the second show who never got the Reds, had to settle for a pair of Typhoons on reheat.
Just guesses though.
As an aside, I'm not too optimistic of seeing the Posiedon next week because of how dark it'll be.

I haven't had a chance to review the images on the PC yet but, by the time the Typhoons arrived, I was forced to use ISO 20,000 just to get 1/200 at f6.3 (thank goodness for body and lens stabilization) so my expectations are very low for next week.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
I love it when they give the afterburner symphony!
The darker it gets the chances of decent video are decreased significantly. I barely got the typhoons over Edinburgh airport, with the darker night and poor weather closing in. I'll be getting the rest of the flypasts, although I'm not sure how the video will turn out.
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Cheers Mike, just been out for a look and I was convinced it was 211 but obviously not.
Thanks for the confirmation.
Thanks for the confirmation.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Does anyone have any info on a departure time for Red 11?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Red 11 not long over Calderwood on way to Blackpool.
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Does anyone know if there is a Flypast on the 25th? It's not listed on the RAF in Scotland Twitter / X feed - they have the 18th as the last date, but the 25th is mentioned on the first page of this thread & Mrs Vandal read a local news report on the Web last night mentioning the 25th too.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
You know I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the list on this thread then the RAF in Scotland without the 25th on it that got me wondering. Mind you the RAF one had an Atlas with the 2 Typhoons last night, mind you we did get the 2 Typhoons. Ach well we shall see.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Not really related to the flypasts, but Kudos to the Turkish airlines pilot for flying that A330 right over the house nice and low out to Istanbul!! Fantastic!! I love it!!

Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Ah that Turkish 330, was hoping to have seen it but was on a family visit at the time & never got back in time to see it arrive, oh well maybe next time.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2023
Just noticed on the list that the next 2 are P-8 Poseidons, would be great if at least one of them was accompanied by a pair of Typhoons like the Atlas' have been......
