The NOTAM on page 1 is for 19.45 - 20.15 tonight (add on 1 hour for local time), so should be over the Castle at 21.00 local. :thumb:

1 x Typhoon tonight + probably an airspare.

I made the mistake last night of listening out on 121.2 when I discovered 5 minutes before the Tornado went over that they were in actuality operating on 128.975.

Also worth remembering the NOTAMS are only current until next Wednesday 15th at the moment. Whether the flypast continue for the duration of the Tattoo is anyones guess at this staget. PLUS - the flyover on Saturday is at 7.30 and there is no flypast on Sunday.

Jedi 72 did the flypast tonight. Jedi 71 ran up to 5 miles then left to the south east

Heard Edinburgh approach calling Jedi 71 just after the flypast, but never heard Jedi 71 calling back. Might need to put the original antenna back on the scanner, since I started using a smaller one the results haven't been the same.

I lived in Edinburgh for 21 years and have always respected the Scotsman and Evening News newspapers, but not any more :-

“If there is a display such as the Tattoo at night then the afterburners will be used for a more exciting visual for the spectators,” he said.

The above sentence is lifted from the 'article' in the link in Mike R's post.

Rubbish. The Typhoon that went through tonight just coasted through, no reheat.

Spoilsports, it's the only excitement I get these days is watching those jets flying over. Loved watching those 4 going over the other night.

I agree. A completely inaccurate report and one that I suspect is simply made up. Ive taken great delight in posting my views to this effect in the story's comments box.

After the flypast the Typhoon changed to JEDI 11 or was it JEDI 1 as it started off with 1&2 with 2 being the spare.

Only callsign I heard tonight was Jedi 11 (one one), only got chatter when informing control of run in and then when leaving the zone.

Seem to be getting a lot of interference on 121.2. Anyone else getting this?

Vandal - Interesting point. When I was listening to last night's display an aircraft going into EDI reported the same thing. The controller explained that this was likely to be from Amsterdam Approach ( ) which is on the same freq and which occasionally happened when the pressure was high. I didnt hear it myself (pity) but pretty amazing nonetheless.
