Wot. No grey ( well, only an acceptable amount).
A great variety of airframes and colour schemes. How times have changed.
Lovely post

Brilliant post - I loved the Heyford events - low key and very relaxed with alot of the aircrew joining the crowds along the front. Plenty of burgers, polish sausages and beer but without the crowds of the likes of Mildenhall & Alconbury. Plus of course the '111! Brilliant aircraft!
Still working through mine from the shows but one from 1986 ( I hope it is 86 - still in talks with the lead pilot of the formation

)

Terrific photos. So many highlights - US Navy contingent, Tiger Starfighter, and all those lovely Aardvarks. Some of these are certainly from before my time but I have fond memories of the 89,90 & 91 shows.
Thanks for sharing these gems.

Proper jets! Lovely to see these from a time when it was worthwhile being into aircraft spotting.

I always loved the Upper Heyford airshows. Never as big as Mldenhall but with a great atmosphere and the occasional gem in the static display.
My first Heyford Open Day was in 1969 when the 66th TRW were based there with RF-101 Voodoos and RF-4C Phantoms. Here are some photos from the day:
