LightningGoose,

No worries on the competency of flying side. Even i make big mistakes as i don't have a throttle (my daughter broke it) and flying certain helicopters with the key buttons for throttle can be awkward as well. I went down to get my Saitek Joystick and Throttle system the other week which was in my mums loft. It cost £100 brand new. Went up in the loft, wasn't there. "Wheres my joystick?" "Oh, i threw it out on the tip last week as i didn't think you still used it"
All i needed was an adaptor for 9pin to USB and it would have worked!!!

I have produced some guidelines to follow for our exercises though, so everyone can work together under the same rules, and some tips....

Anyway, at the moment we use Gamespy for flying, not ideal but it works 75% of the time. But a chap on here set up a dedicated FSInn/Teamspeak server a couple of months ago and it will go live in the next few weeks or when we get round to testing it. So anyone with FSinn/Copilot and Teamspeak will invited over to that (FSX Acceleration and VFR Scenery only) who are into what we do.

For the helicopter exercises, the most we have flown with is three helo's. But the aim with the new server is to get a whole TAG up and running, up to 6-8 helicopters in the sky at once but not all doing the same mission. Singleton and formations will have orders and such like drop offs, MERT, trooping, etc. But i need to get going on the scenery for that, just a shame its not dynamic like troops moving around etc and vehicles!

What you need to fly with us are the Alphasim Apache Longbow, Alphasim Seaking, Alphasim Lynx and Wildcat, Captain Sim C130 packs, Acceleration EH101, GMAX Gazelle AH1, UKMIL Chinook, UKMIL Puma.
At times we will be flying MH53/HH60 Ops.

It will be good.... but not ready yet.

Sounds like great fun! I won't be able to do Helos at all with no joystick, as I can't use rudder, but perhaps I could do some fast jet support? But I do have the full C130 pack...
I definitely can't fly on weekends, so maybe one weekday not too late?

No worries.
Do you know how to conduct FAC and the way they operate? How to work Anchor points and target read outs? It's all pretty realistic. But if not, i can show you how it's done.
I can send over my guidelines which has a bit about anchor points and reference points etc. This is where the mic comes in handy as typing it all out and flying is hard work.
I've never done mic yet, my mic makes me sound like a 10yr old... haha!

One question though, what fixed wing do you have for FAC?

We fly on LAN, vai Hamachi or through gamespy aha :) Most of the time we just use Hamachi as we have trouble staying on gamespy, getting randomly booted out of it!

Next time ill make a Fightercontrol one for everyone to try :)

My PC with FS9 and hundreds of payware addons died last night . . .so until (hopefully) i can get back up and running, my other PC has just had an old (ish) sim reinstalled, StrikeFighters 2 by thirdwire, its a merged install of all the SF2 packs. I had forgotten just how much fun these titles were! :D

Cant get over the file size for the Bucc in SF2, each texture is pushing nearly 40MB per plane! I had to down the texture resolution from 2048x2048 to 1024x1024 just to get it running well in a dense environment!
It is a developement of the Alphasim Bucc isnt it?

The SF2 Bucc is a completely new model built espicially for the SF2 series.

@ UKMIL, how did you port it into FSX ?

by a lot of manhours, recompiling the model as a true FSX model, with bump mapping and working VC
