I don't think they had flightsims back then either, oh wait....

I watch Ice Pilots and those planes are F$%%^&. Bout time they upgraded! I see they keep running out of Avgas to as the Canadians are trying to switch over to Avtur for everything now. So it won't be long until Buffallo have no choice but to "change".

Indeed well as the Genral Manager says old planes Old Fuel, I think the plan for them is to replace the DC4's with the Electra's of wich two have been flown over from the UK. The C46 well the on the final count down to death, Although the DC3's may just get coverted in to Basler's.

From watching several seasons of the Ice Pilots, i've come to the conclusion that Buffalo are cowboys in the aviation industry. Their maintenance is nonsense as are their ways of fixing things. And their aircraft have very poor maintenance. Look at the time when they flew over two CL215s to Turkey, it took them several weeks, one had engine shut downs over the Atlantic, one did a gear up landing in Turkey.
I felt sorry for the Turkish buying those off Buffalo. Certainly not the people i would have gone to for any aircraft!

Oh well, back on topic i suppose.

I was mooching around in the Berents Sea after taking off from an airfield near Murmansk and headed west but strayed a little too close to the Norwegian border.
Olicat scrambled in his Norwegian F16 on QRA from Kirkenes.

I saw him on my radar as soon as he took off.... and here he comes to spoil my fun

I was gunning it at full whack, quick flicks of the burner helped keep up

Eventually he escorted me into an airfield on North Western Norway

RichC and Olicat, is there any chance of dropping me a PM next time you are flying? I often fly with Olicat, but it would be fun to fly with both of you... :thumb:

The SPTA scenery is mine, designed for Horizon VFR Gen X 2+ scenery and UK2000 VFR airfields. It will not work for default scenery.
I might be releasing some of it at a later date in conjuction with a project that is being set up. It only covers approx 5% of what should be around during the major exercises as it gets a bit of a bummer with my FPS and Treescapes at the same time.
I shall make some more at a later date to cover more FOBs and training aids. The scenery has a few goodies in it, such as firing/gunshot sounds, scenarios such as IED ambushes which need MERT extraction complete with red/green smoke depending on where you go (hostile or cold).
I have a hard time making scenery, all i have is Whisplacer and whatever scenery libraries are compatible as my Simconnect is corrupt and cannot be reinstalled correctly unless i reinstall Windows itself. So i have no Simconnect and FSUIPC is a no go either :(
When it was all working, i used Object Placer in the SDK.
So i have to rely mainly on default FSX and Acceleration objects together with UKVFR. Some of the objects i have used were not available and so i had to make new GUIDs and other stuff. The oshkosh tankers are default objects repainted but only show in the day, at night the original textures appear which is odd.

I am not just doing SPTA, i am doing other areas too such as Bovington. It helps having knowledge of the areas (and exercises), luckily i know "every" place on SPTA covering the 25x10 mile area so navigation is easy too and fully genned up on the exercises after following them for the past 6 years.

That is fine, if you like "real" (serious) flying rather than mucking about. We conduct now, pretty much operations that are in line with real training/operational deployment training.
We then, after the serious stuff sometimes have a muck about afterwards. We tend to fly between 11pm and 2am on Friday Night and Saturday Night although i can do during the week around the same time too.

Here are two from last nights session with Olicat. The most interesting thing Yeovilton has seen in a while!

Ah yes, RichC, the only problem is I don't have my joystick at the moment. I don't mess about much when it is not necessary, Olicat can vouch for that! And if you are worried that I can't land EH101s and that sort of thing, I can tell you now that I can hover one and land it perfectly well, with a joystick.
But sadly the time you fly is way to late for me! :O

RichC, cheers for that response :) It does look very good, hopefully you'll be able to release abit of it when you can mate :) I do fly on FSX online quite alot, but I'll have to try and get online with you guys! I do alot of training/mission sorties, around the UK etc, but will muck about a little bit when ive completed the sortie, as you do  I'll get some screenies up soon, but if anyone has the VFR Terrain of the Mach Loop for FSX, us lot at MSPG Sceneries have released scenery for CAD and the Bwlch Exit, in the form of Photographers and the respective car parks! Link in my sig.

Catch you all online,

Matt

Sounds excellent! Will the M Loop scenery work with Just Flight's VFR scenery?

I know this is a bit off topic, but just to let you know 'lowlevelRAF,' the scenery you have made is really good! I have tested it out and quite like it.
