Adam (our tech chap) found out last week that gmail is bouncing emails sent out by the forum, he is trying to found out why this is happening and is trying to resolve it. I thought that FC Admin had updated the thread with this info that I gave them but apparently not!

Is this just affecting gmail users - can anyone else that is having issues advise please?

Many thanks.

Hi Mike, I think the issue of not receiving email notifications of new posts is happening again. I use gmail and it’s been working fine until about a month ago. I am now no longer getting email notifications of new posts but the home page shows I have notifications when I’m logged in.
Cheers

The issue started around the 19th of June when gmail started bouncing emails sent from the forum to members that have gmail accounts, it's not a fault with the forum but some sort of change that gmail themselves have implemented. Adam (our techie chap) is busy trying to resolve the issue.

Those with gmail accounts will still get notifications at the top-right of the board as normal, they just won't get any emails until this is fixed.

It maybe something to do with Google's new enhanced protection? another Forum provider had a similar issue, Google thought a site sending lots of E-mails was a phishing site and blocked it.

Nothing yet, unless you change your forum email address to one that doesn't involve gmail !

Looking into it, neither fightercontrol.co.uk or civilianaviation.co.uk have DMARC records published, which is a big no-no and generally suggests the domains are spammy.

Both domains are on the UCEPROTECTL3, which usually removes things 7 days after the last email is seen...so basically the sites need to stop sending ALL emails, and fix the DMARC issue in the DNS, hope that nobody else using the IP addresses sends any emails, and then wait 7 days.

However the site is hosted by 1and1, who across IP addresses with thousands of websites, so there's little or no hope of that working.

Yes, thanks for that.

So, admin need to contact IONOS [previously 1&1] to get 77.68.72.76 removed from the blacklist?
Perhaps a move to a different server/IP address...

Just by means of a small update - it is actively being looked in to but not got to a resolution as yet. Trying a few different options to get things running but so far unsuccessful.

And nope, afraid it's not the above that seems to be the issue.....

Normal service has been resumed. Thank you to everyone at FC, clearly a lot of effort has gone into resolving this issue.

A big thanks to Adam for fixing it on both here and also on CA.
I tested it yesterday but the first email notification went into my Spam folder, so it's best to check in there if nothing appears in your Inbox and mark it as 'not spam' to re-train it!

Is anyone still having issues with it?

Appreciate the site and IT checking

Since getting my e-mails back on Sept 8th I have noticed that I have to login to read them. Also I am not registered anymore, but when I try to register I get a reply to say that this e-mail address is already being used. I know it is as it's mine. Could the admin team have a look into this and re-boot me or something. Many thanks Martin.

What makes you think that you're not registered anymore?
You have to be both registered & logged-on to post on the forum and you have just posted. :S
