Re: Eskisehir - Phantom Spotters Day 17-11-2024

I echo the comments on the behaviour. I found myself disgusted by a lot of what went on during both days, ashamed even... The Sunday was the worst of it, in 15-20 years of doing this I don't think it's ever been so bad, so much so that along with half of our group we walked out before the second wav...

Don't underestimate what google earth shows... the climb to a spot in Greece looked fairly simple on maps, but although short it absolutely got the heart rate going

Also on the temperatures.. again back to Greece during the day we had 30+, but the morning was very cold... pays to be prepared

Re: Exercise Ramstein Flag 30/9 to 11/10/24

French Rafales, Swedish Gripens and Polish F16s have been seen around the low fly this week and also a Canadian A310 has been operating off the coast. Hungarian Gripens, Italian Typhoons, Portuguese F16s and USAF F35s have arrived at their operating bases. Not seen much else but others (as above) ar...

Re: Canadian Hornets in Europe question

For avoidance of doubt and to sadly squash speculation, the deployment is a continuation of the Canadian's commitment to Enhanced Air Policing in the Black Sea. If you look back, they've deployed around this time in 5 of the last 7 years so nothing new or no surprises. Waddington was the only red he...

Nellis AFB Visit - October 2020

Not quite sure where to post this thread, but this area seemed most appropriate... MODs please move if not or delete if I'm breaking any rules. This is not exactly a for sale post, more an opportunity for anybody who is interested: During October, there will be a small group of us heading Stateside ...

Re: An Av-8tor's Dream

Stunning set Chris, I recall the preview you gave me whilst in Moscow so its great to see a full set of images. Great opportunity.

Shots 4 and 12 stand out for me though, I do like that CAG bird.

Hope you're keeping well.

Operation Atlantic Resolve - US Army in Bavaria

Late 2017 saw the US Army undertake their first deployment in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve when the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade landed en masse at the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium. After staging through Chievres Air Base the bulk of the deployment headed to the Bavarian region of Germany which ...

Thanks for the comments,

Yes the last shot shows the thrust vectoring capability of the Su-30. Really something special that display was I must admit.

MAKS 2019, Zhukovsky

First time visiting MAKS International Aviation and Space Salon last week after being on the bucket list for a number of years. I've got to say, the show itself seems to generate quite a lot of hype and when you cut through the rarity of the aircraft you see... it's actually quite an average show. I...

Thanks again all. Top quality Aaron, that looks like it should be on everyone's bucket list! If I can ask, were your photos from the spotters day spotters enclosure, or did you have privileged access? love the post processing as well. Great work. Cheers, Kelvin These were all from the locations prov...

Re: Anatolian Eagle 2019 - Konya AB, Turkey

Thanks gents, much appreciated. Fantastic angles, how many mm did you use? To be honest most images were shot with a 70-200 as we were that close not much more was needed. However, at times I used a 300mm prime for some of the close ups then a 16-85mm for more wide angle. Everything on a crop body.

Anatolian Eagle 2019 - Konya AB, Turkey

It was great to see the Turkish re-introduce a couple of spotters days for this exercise following events back in 2016. Konya is a beautiful location with some great photographic opportunities available when all goes to plan. Suffice to say once things were announced it was a no brainer to plan a tr...

Hi Supra

Ala23 provided us with two static air frames showing what the jet is capable/was capable of carrying throughout its Spanish life. Purely put together just for the visit as a static exhibit.

Home of the Spanish SF-5M - Talavera la Real

At the beginning of February the Ejército del Aire at Talavera la Real opened up their doors for a couple of spotters days at the home of their advanced jet training wing. With a pair attending RIAT in 2015, an appearance that in my opinion was the biggest highlight from many a recent show, it was a...

Cruzeiro do Sul Exercise (CRUZEX) 2018

Towards the end of November 2018, the eighth edition of the South American exercise was staged at Natal Air Base in the host country of Brazil. Having been on a five year hiatus due to the Confederations Cup, World Cup and Olympics absorbing a number of resources; the Força Aérea Brasileira re-ignit...
