Signs & sounds of movement - EXERCISE WYCOMBE WARRIOR 01?
Signs & sounds of movement - EXERCISE WYCOMBE WARRIOR 01?
Two military tactical wheeled tankers seen heading north this afternoon Sunday on the road from Newcastle to Otterburn, and the sounds of helicopter/s at 20:15 and 20:45 Sunday heading north over Tynedale hopefully heralds the return of what sounded like Apache Longbow to the region, presumably to be based at Otterburn for EXERCISE WYCOMBE WARRIOR 01 - this is purely guesswork/conjecture from the clues and others may be able to add in as the week goes on. Hope they enjoy the snow that's forecast - it's pouring down at present!

Merlin directly OTT centre of Hexham 15:00 Monday transiting north west when seen - unusual to see military helicopters low and on this course (apart from when Italians bring their helicopters to Otterburn for exercises and they like to sightsee on route!), but possibly will be following North Tyne up towards Otterburn. Usually seen transiting roughly N/S to east or west of town.

I've been told that spade is the only range being used for WW not otterburn. I'll be chancing the weather in hope to catch atleast a snap of something low level. Think I may be trying another location though. Anyone heading up there tomorrow I'll be in the red Corsa vxr so come say hello

Hi Pete:
As seen on another posting re the Dutch, it looks like the Merlin went into Carlisle and then south. Gazelle was also exiting Newcastle on Sunday and there seems to have been a fair bit of helicopter movements in the last month in this area, but little joy with mixing photos, weather and helicopters! Got to see Dutch deploy west and it's a good location but weather not brill last week and especially this.
Don't think I'll be out to Spade with the existing conditions and schedules, but no doubt will run into your Corsa in due course! Good luck if weather okay tomorrow!

Well it seems like it has kicked off with typhoons,f16s,m2000,f15 and harriers at the moment. Hope the cloud level is high enough for low level flying tomorrow!
