ADB GB - Black Mike.

Post by ArabJazzie » Wed Jun 19, 2013 11:27 pm

Hi all,
Seeing that my local is Leuchars, there is only one aircraft that i could build for this one in the shape of Phantom FG1 Black Mike. This will be the 5th build for my Leuchars collection of Phantom specials and on this occasion, the starting point is very nice Hasegawa 1/48th kit which comes as XV582 ootb!

Nothing fancy with this one unless i get brave enough and shell out for some resin/metal seats.

Geoff.

Hi all,
Thought i took a few more pics as i proceeded but alas, this is all i have of the cockpit just before it was buttoned up!

However, i had to give up on the initial plan as i knew it wouldnt hold muster against the PE i was putting in my Sword Harrier! Ive spent a fair bit of time ensuring seams are good and i have wings on the fuselage and should have another update tomorrow.
Arabest,
Geoff.

Hi all,
Have been plodding along on this and have made it to the priming stage. However, an issue with the rh auxiliary door meant a bit of filler had to be deployed! Because of the complex curves in the area, its taken a few sessions but nearly there. Also the air intakes didnt settle down as i wished and more complex curves to deal with but i think its good enough!

A wee bit more work and another update should follow in a couple of weeks.

Geoff.

Hello all,
This has been on my shelf for a week or 3 allowing the paint to harden for the next stage which is Alclads for the exhaust areas.

All bits are painted ready for fitting when all the paintings finished and decals are done.

Hello again,
I gave this one just that wee bit longer for the paint to harden then it was out with the Alclads.

Took my time to mask it all off and broke out the standard, dull and dark Aluminium. So earlier today, either side of a visit to the pub to watch the Arabs beat the Staggies, i made it to this stage.

Not so sure the different shades can be seen in all the photos but it looks subtle but good in the flesh.
