A sad, sad day. Was there, saw the DH53 take off and begin a circuit but didn't see the actual crash as I was busy on a stall. Heard the crash alert and looked out on to the airfield to see the aircraft right way up and with what looked like slight front end damage. Looked innocuous at the time but show was cancelled soon after a fleet of emergency vehicles arrived and not long after they asked everyone to vacate the airfield. Obvious then that it was not good and received the news a bit later that the pilot hadn't survived. Thoughts with pilot's family and friends and I feel particularly sorry for the Shuttleworth people who are like one big family, some of whom I've known for years.
