Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
You'd think with the incident being close to the base, they would be able to track the jet on their radars: but then again it is a stealth jet so......
Maybe it carried on out to sea?

Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
Begs the question (based on the article which is probably incorrect) why didn't his wingman observe the mishap jet crashing and mark its GPS coordinates.
Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
My understanding is the jet was left on auto-pilot.

Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
Strange the wingman didn't follow it down and no mention of explosion on impact.
Not sure what "auto pilot" means on an F35 , especially in a range theatre.
If we were to go into the realms of conspiracy we might consider the fact that the avionics were spoofed [not impossible ] and an unknown player took control of the jet bringing it down in a remote location where it was dismantled and whisked away in a container.

Some reports saying it went into the large lake near by.. probably why they can't locate its exact position under the water at the moment.zero_gravity wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 11:42 amStrange the wingman didn't follow it down and no mention of explosion on impact.

Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
Apparently missing jet fliers have been turning up on lampposts and milk cartons (faked on social media).

I get the impression that the ejection may have come as a surprise to the pilot. If that’s the case I suspect there will be a lot of paperwork and potentially a “tea and no biscuits” meeting with the squadron commander.

Great idea Nancy, let's fit tracking devices to all our stealth jets....

Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
Most reports state it was discovered "Two hours North East of the base". Is that two hours on foot or two hours flying at the cruising speed the F-35?

From google
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF/WCSC) – A debris field of parts of a missing F-35 military jet has been found in Williamsburg County, according to Joint Base Charleston.
The Joint Base Charleston confirmed in a statement Monday afternoon that personnel from the Joint Base Charleston and Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort had located the debris field with the help of local law enforcement in Williamsburg County.
80-100 miles from base.

Re: Missing F35 over South Carolina
Seems there was a 911 call from the pilot that has just been released.

Great cartoon on another site showing the pilot being shot out of the aircraft, and a 'word balloon' saying 'it was a very big spider!!!'
