B-1 arrival Discussion.
As of today they haven’t arrived as yet
Does anyone have a rough idea as to when they might arrive please ?
I’m starting to think it could be Monday now as no air res in place tonight or tomorrow as yet
I think most of the support is now in place
Many thanks in advance
All the best
Max

Re: B-1 arrival
Max,
No ALTRV is normally required for the crossing since they will be on their own after filling up over the US or Canada in the AR20 or AR80 tracks.
ALTRVs are only required for non-standard activities such as flight refuelling.
Best to keep an eye on AR20 and AR80 to see any traffic heading this way.
Hope that helps (and I got it right)

Not a ar20 but similar airspace over New York

Maybe linked? Or could jus be stateside training
AR631 is also active tonight

That does help ,I can’t see any AR20 active yet which made me wonder if they may take one of the above

Re: B-1 arrival
They don’t necessarily need one either if they go via Pease or Bangor it’s been done. So might be worth watching them as well.

Re: B-1 arrival
There are rumours for tomorrow, but I'm sure we will know in advance due to the flight time.
Re: B-1 arrival
I've been monitoring these deployments for years now, and one thing I've never taken any notice of is the notams. Dyess has a notam for official business only until Monday. Theoretically, would that put the bombers in by Monday or do they not take any notice of the notam?
As I said, its something I've never bothered looking into before. hank you in advance.

Re: B-1 arrival
It's also not unheard of for bombers to arrive for a deployment on a weekend. DRYER91 flight of 2 on Saturday 16th 2019 and TORE51 flight of 6 on Saturday August 22nd 2020. I think there was B-2s arrive one Sunday morning a few years back as well?
Re: B-1 arrival
I don't understand. Surely "filling up over the US" is "flight refuelling."
Re: B-1 arrival
Hopefully they come in Saturday or Friday evening, then i can get down there

Re: B-1 arrival
Just to stir the pot a bit more, there was the b-52 deployment a few years ago that, while expected, was set up to catch even Fairford on the hop. Came over the Arctic and Norway or something, then radioed in over the North Sea.
Re: B-1 arrival
I think the difference is air to air refuelling over land - compared to air to air refuelling over the Atlantic Ocean which would require the ALTRV booking to ensure they have a clear space around them
Least that’s how I think it is

Re: B-1 arrival
Specifically it's refuelling in already segregated areas, versus in more freely accessible airspace. You don't see NOTAMs for AARA8, but you might if someone wanted to set up a refuelling orbit over Slough, for example!

They should be here by Monday

Re: B-1 arrival
Speculation is all very well but it’s a case of when the rubber hits the threshold, they will arrive when they arrive
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
Another good indicator is ground equipment being positioned in the parking spaces at Fairford
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
Guessing that'll be in the normal parking spots?
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
So, south-west bomber bays - h/s 46 to 60, leaving plenty of space even in that limited area for more! Fingers crossed . . . . !
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
Still No AR's in place and no b1s on the east coast baces unlikely to be tonight
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
I believe the Northern loop is reopen again after a considerable amount of time closed due to the overall state of the hard stands which have been totally re laid. So maybe not the SW loop as has become the norm over the last few years.
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
Obviously not tonight then,
Would tomorrow anytime be a possibility?
