RAF Shawbury 21.3.19

Post by TAFFEVANS » Thu Mar 21, 2019 5:47 pm

Popped down for a couple of hours and pleasantly surprised when 'Westland4' arrived via 20mins at Sleap. Then flew a local 40min sortie in the afternoon.

Does Shawbury get many visiting aircraft or is it a rarity?

I don’t go there on a regular basis, once a month normally but visitors are extremely rare! Unless something is coming in/out of storage there are very few with Rotary aircraft normally refueling at Stafford when northbound. The AW159 when I first saw it on ADS I initially thought it would be going to maybe Spadeadam.

He called Shawbury at about 11.10 on the radio, not long after passing the Severn Bridge heading north and gave his intentions - suspect not too long before he disappears on delivery

Word is that they both needed to be in The Philippines for early April... and because the training is behind schedule, this has been put back 1 month to early May.
