10/06/1984 Mildenhall Open Day

Post by rh226 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:48 pm

Long time gap in my log - the flying A-10s at Mildenhall Open Day on 10/06/1984.

80-0146 was in the hangar display, 80-0229 and 80-0279 were on the South side flight line. However, the flypast was by 4x A-10s that I have recorded as being "flying only" (i.e. did not include either of the flight line two just mentioned).

Can anyone help as to the identities of these four, please (Scramble is no help, unfortunately)?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob
I have one of them down as 80-0236 / WR, but have gaps for the other three. I also have gaps for the two LN Aardvarks that flew, if anyone can shed light on those too?

Thanks for the A-10 serial, Kevin. It confirms the one and only that I had tentatively identified. :thumb:

'Fraid I can't help on the F-111s. They are a gap for me too, but I have to confess that I wasn't too bothered about those as I had cleared them 4 years earlier.

Cheers,

Hi F-111s were 70-2374 LN and 70-2415 LN, also flying A-10s 80-0236 WR (10th only) and 80-0265 WR & 81-0992 WR (9th only). Hope that helps.

Hi Phantom fanatic,

Thanks for the F-111 serials.

Unfortunately, as far as the A-10s are concerned, I am no further forward than I already was aware of. What flew on the 9th quite possibly did the 10th as well, but it is not a definite identification - which is a pity as I need '265 but have subsequently caught up with '992.

Once again, thanks for your help.

Bob
