That's the 1992 flypast (Tucanos) so the special marked jet would have been either XM424 or XM466PeteHemsley wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 4:47 pmThat last photo is very interesting. I'm quite sure that it shows XM479 peeling off wearing the original display scheme that was found on the wings a couple of years ago during repaint at RAF leeming.
Bit of a mystery here Pete. The jet which displayed @ Fenton in '93 (actually the last display JP) was XM424 flown by F/L Howard as shown by these 2 pics which I took. XM466 was its twin which was usually the spare. Now, back in '89 there were two similarly painted jets and here are the only pics I have of them. That coded 43 appears to be XM424 but I can't make out the serial on 52. This could well be XM479.PeteHemsley wrote: ↑Fri Feb 01, 2019 8:23 amReally interesting. Whilst xm479 was in being prepped for paint, they found this original paint of the display jet and they wondered whether the wing had actually been replaced as there wasn't any photos of 479 in a display scheme.
Thanks for the info. I can't recall any either, which would seem to indicate that XM479 may have rec'd the wing from one of these.
