Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Hi All,
Posted generically in the Scotland and Ireland forum, and was recommended to post here also.
Have seen in the Dunfermline Press that there will be a Spitfire and a Typhoon performing a flypast at the Forth Rail Bridge on Wednesday 4th March at 1325hrs.
Anyone know anything further on this?

All press around this seems to be very sparse.

They should get Winkle to fly the Spitfire. It wouldn't be the first time he'd done it.

So what time was the FlyPast? I was watching at 1.25pm was it really 12.30pm then? Never saw it...........
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Watched the Typhoon pass (swiftly) across the skyline and the Spit came right overhead towards the the bridges.
Hopefully a closer view was better for the masses.
Look forward to some pictures. Anyone able to confirm the tail numbers of both?

Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
It was to mark the 125th anniversary of the Forth Bridge hence the time 1:25
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Just can't believe it went up to the top floor of my Office in Edinburgh City Centre where you can just see the tops of both Bridges but saw Nothing, you get a great view of the Forth and over to Fife but still nothing even at 1.25pm - bit disappointed still.
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
They did fly quite low, but you should have seen the Typhoon I would have thought if you could see the tops of both bridges. He certainly didn't go under them.
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Yes Swizzuk you are totally right would have definately thought I would have seen it/ them...........
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
They certainly did the flypast though at 1325hrs. Could see it with binoculars from my office in Dunfermline.
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Managed to pop down to South Queensferry this afternoon.Plenty of people turned up but i have to say the event was a bit of a disappointment.Typhoon was bang on time at 1:25 and did one pass and at a fair speed.Aircraft was in knife edge as it went over but as it turned to head over Fife i could see it was a 29sqn marked jet.No number, sorry.Bummer it was the replica spit and not the real thing but as others have said the spit did a couple of passes and a nice wing waggle as he departed.
Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Your Typhoon was ZK322 BR in 29R sqn, was operated earlier in the day with 2 Sqn, think he left Lossie as Lossie 79? But was getting ready to leave at the time so callsign might be wrong.Diamond Nine wrote:Managed to pop down to South Queensferry this afternoon.Plenty of people turned up but i have to say the event was a bit of a disappointment.Typhoon was bang on time at 1:25 and did one pass and at a fair speed.Aircraft was in knife edge as it went over but as it turned to head over Fife i could see it was a 29sqn marked jet.No number, sorry.Bummer it was the replica spit and not the real thing but as others have said the spit did a couple of passes and a nice wing waggle as he departed.
HTH Iain.

With thanks to Niall, the Typhoon was "Lossie 59".

The information was posted by a member (of good standing and sound knowledge) of the SAP facebook group - Scottish Aviation Photographers
The flypasts were both just rubbish, especially the typhoon.
I took some video but you'd be hard pressed to see the typhoon!

Re: Forth Bridge Flypast - Typhoon
Thanks for posting that Jim, predictably tame from the Typhoon but I guess the chances of it going under the bridge were always slim!
