Reading between the lines I would say that base 2512 is the Kolomna logistics facility. I still say that it is the size of the loss at Kolomna and the effect on Naval Aviation that resulted in the sackings.

Along with the 200 aircraft there was also the nuclear weapons rumours. If it was a nuke storage facility it would have multi-layered fences and exhibit certain key characteristics. See examples of nuclear weapons storage areas on the following.

The US has invested too much time and money working with the Russians for them to store nuclear weapons under such circumstances.

Lots of US money has gone into Russian nuclear weapons storage.
