Clues and progress thus far to identify the airbase:-
- "So much to do, so little done" (3,5)
- Cecil Rhodes (by slogan 51 earlier)
- Think colonial times in Africa

New clue:- former British colony in sub-Saharan Africa

Got me stumped, only one I can think of is New Sarum in what was Rhodesia but can’t fit it in with the clues.

The quote "So much to do, so little done" is from Cecil Rhodes. Rhodes >>> Rhodesia and on the outskirts of Salisbury (colonial times in Africa as mentioned by me) and then the last clue 'former British colony in sub-Saharan Africa' is as close as I could go without giving it away too easily.

NEW SARUM indeed, dual use, with commercial operators on the north side and the purpose built Rhodesian Air Force facilities on the south side.
