Very nice Keith - looks like it was taken from the old viewing area?

Darren

Correct taken from the old viewing area on the north side, a great view but into the sun when it put in an appearance. Interesting visitors would taxi past on departure.

Ah Yes

The "Heathrow Mob" closely allied with the "Northolt Mob" and "Sarfend Mob". I remember the bus rides from Shippea Hil railway station very well.

Happy days

Me too - "Arfur's Coaches" as I recall. Food in Micky's, beer in the Bird......

The 40612 legend was on many a road sign too, thanks in no small part to one particular hitch-hiking spotter. Happy days.

There are probably a few people here who remember Arfur's Coach.

An extra 50p each and he'd drop us off at the 'heath.

Never had a badge. Must have been after my time.

I only recognize about half a dozen. What year was that?

I remember a trip to Holland in a couple of hired Ford Transits, with BA stickers applied.

August '75, it was. I've still got some slides somewhere.

I can't see me in any of the above pics though, so maybe it was a different trip.

Well, well... in the first pic I can also see Barry Blackmore, and El Al Tony; in the second there's Cliff and I think Bernie (sadly no longer with us), and in the third Wembley Martin and The Twins if I'm not mistaken.

No sign of Ric and Trev (part of the Chelsea Mob) or Noisy Dick, and several others I could mention.

I can only claim to have been an "honorary member" (their words) having spent 4 years at the mercy of their wit (Liverpool Street to Shippea Hill etc) cos I was an out-of-towner and a.....student!

Happy days. ZF.
