Tornado GR4 Fleet General Info

Tuesday 16 January 2018
Further problems today involved ZD849/110 - when working circuit at Marham as Primus 2, declared a Mayday with multiple caption warnings. Thankfully landed safely at 1600 and stopped on taxiway.
Additional GR4s noted today were ZA613/075 and ZA614/076 parked together on main site.

Do you know the radio callsign for the 4 that departed in the afternoon? Was it Voodoo & Primus?

Quick update on ZA459.

It will return to Marham, however it is due to be taken out of active service and prepped for display, not scrapped.

Really sad that ZD741 has gone the way of RTP, rather than preservation for display. I guess she has a bounty of usable parts, however she is the last in the line of Tornado 'MacRobert's Reply' airframes and was the XV(R) Disbandment flagship. Yes, I'm the sentimental sort with this kind of thing!

Of the 36 left there are 9 with Op Granby heritage, without checking likely Telic, Ellamy & Shader etc ops too. If any Tornados need saving it's one of those. The numbers the RAF are talking about at OSD, hopefully one of the nine might survive and make it to a museum

Patience. It sounds like it's been withdrawn from squadron ops waiting delivery flight. Leeming was closed yesterday

Update on my original post, it did not go to leeming as planned due to the runway at leeming being closed
It will however depart for leeming at some point this week.
