Suggests to me an Approach to Rwy 26, splash of fuel before departing the same way. Tac Supply setting up a Forward Arming Refuelling point for a refuel. But I'm guessing someone will just drive a bowser in and top them up.

If no sun is about I might go to Middle Wallop and then get to Odiham fir the arrival back... does anyone think that’s a good idea?? I still am not convinced that’s the best idea :D

The Army are running a live Facebook on Tuesday showing the progress.

Sounds like there will be an accompanying Chinook

Fingers crossed for weather

FYI

about 0925hrs there was a Linx shown on ADSB as VALHLA01.

Nothing showing at 0943hrs or on 360radar.

UPDATE 0950HRS.
Shown briefly on ADSB at 1700ft over A34/A303 junction. lost contact.

BACK AGAIN zg917.

Off for coffee.

1005hrs. Gazelle ZB692 AAC735 heading east at 4000ft ? planning to join perhaps? That's a NO!

Pleasantly surprised by the amount of coverage it’s getting in the media- given that it’s not particularly an aircraft that will have any real resonance with the public at large.

I don't know a British design that has seen nearly forty years of service, still in production as we retire our last examples, served in many major conflict zones, world air speed record holder for true helicopters and Prince Andrew flew one in the Falklands, what more could you ask for? :)

He was a Sea King co-pilot in the Falklands, he didn't get onto the Lynx until 1983

4 x Lynx all the way, with the addition of an RAF Chinook (I think?) for the London leg between The Isle of Dogs and Barnes travelling east to west following the H3/H4 helicopter corridor in London (basically following The River Thames from Greenwich to Barnes.

My apologies, memory not what it used to be Gladys. He of course infamously allegedly used the Lynx as a personal taxi.

FYI

On 360radar at 1145hrs, east of the Severn bridges at 1600ft, turning left to head down the Welsh coast towards St. Athan

:)

At 1150hrs - plan " B " heading north from Chepstow. Now towards Pontypool? Swinging round the bad weather?? now north! All very confusing. :S, Lost the plot. :(

Even with a Royal connection it’d still be surprising to me that the likes of the BBC are carrying it to the degree they are- id have thought only the Chinook would be that well known as a helicopter among the wider public, otherwise it’s probably “a helicopter”, possibly sub divided into “big” or “small”.
