Nice shots but have to agree with Paddy at the moment (my views may change) - also abit premature when they are not even here yet!

Might as well have parked an E-Type next to a Cortina.................
Re: Gate Guardians Samlesbury
It might look like one Paddy but it isn't! The real one is long gone from here, good replica though, and better than the other thing!paddyboy wrote:Hi Mickey

Yes indeed, Mark. The real XS921 crashed into the North Sea on 19/09/1985 (pilot ejected). At the time of the crash it was coded "BA" of 11 Sqdn.

She may be ugly Paddy put apparently she'lll do things that'll blow your mind
Re: Gate Guardians Samlesbury
Pilot was Craig Penrice, whom of course was later a TP at BAES Warton. Subsequently then ejected from Hunter F6 XF516 some 18yrs later, whilst still serving at Warton I believerh226 wrote:Yes indeed, Mark. Interesting write up here for those that want to learn more.

The real airframe was F.53 ZF580 which went to St Mawgan/Newquay in 2013. Canberra WT527 was also here for a while and apparently ended up in Greece.
Re: Gate Guardians Samlesbury
Shame they went with the F35 as its not even British even though we've bought American before many times, but this heap of over priced rubbish just takes tax payers money to an other waste of money. I mean theres only enough space inside to put your sandwich box never mind munitions, oh well back to the pictures the lightning is a stunner, whats the other thing again, happy Christmas to all forumites keep on clicking

Just the wheel going round, the real frightnings were much the same, only a bigger sandwich boxjag636 wrote: I mean theres only enough space inside to put your sandwich box never mind munitions,
Growing old disgracefully
Re: Gate Guardians Samlesbury
The fact that they build the back end of the F-35 probably has something to do with them putting one on the gate....
