F35s& F22s due 6/10/17

Post by Blackcat1 » Mon Oct 02, 2017 6:17 am

Morning all

Just read on Scramble that 6x F22s & 4x F35s are due to arrive at Lakenheath on Friday 6th October. Are they on TDY at Lakenheath or just transiting through?

Cheers

Any ideas on which units these jets will be coming from?

Many thanks

If true, this is good news for me, as I'm already booked for a couple of days at Lakenheath / Mildenhall next week....

But anyone planning a trip next week, don't forget that Monday 9th is Columbus Day, which is a public holiday in the States...

Rumour has it that the F-35s are from 34FS/388FW - the same unit as earlier this year.

The F-22s from 1FW - no squadron known.

If they turn out different, so much the better!!

When the F-35s were at Lakenheath back in May, the based F-15Cs and F-15Es were flying too, at least on the days that I visited.

I have heard that the F35s are to be either USMC F35Bs or USN F35Cs ( time will tell ) but i find it ironic that a USN C40A/165832 arrived approx 17:10 this evening

Are we sure that both the F-22's and F-35's are related to the exercise? It's believed that 12 Tyndall F-22's transited Moron eastbound to the gulf last week, so the (12?) Langleys that have been in the gulf since January should be on their way home soon. Might it be these on the way home?

Any educated guesses on a likely arrival time?

If the arrival of the SJ's is anything to go by, anytime between this Friday and the end of the year

Lakenheath will be closed next Monday for Columbus Day, won't it?

I am also of the impression that these are heading for the sandpit to take over from the returning 12, happy to be proved wrong though.

Those ‘sandpit replacements’ were already flown through Moron AFAIK

Ah okay, I mean exactly the Fridays.. As far as I know, the Spangdahlem F-16’s won’t fly that much on fridays... Is it the same in Lakenheath / Mildenhall?
