Mildenhall and Lakenheath 09/03
Gents,
A selection from yesterdays run over to the bases.
Started at Mildenhall.
]
Moved next door, although it looked rather quiet.
Note the Paveways.
HH-60s were about.
Then back to Mildenhall at dusk.
Gary

Nice Gary - don't know if it was the F-15 you caught above but one returned with 'hung' declaring an IFE
Nice light on the tankers - like the one of 'Nacho'(?) being guided out
Thanks for posting

So that was the problem. I knew the first pair coming back after I moved over from Mildenhall had declared a IFE, and I did just catch something on the radio about the CFT, but not knowing that they were carrying LGBs at the time, I didn't realise what the issue was. The IFE aircraft should be the first one (98-0134) and is the aircraft with the close up, as when I saw the Paveways I zoomed in on the lead aircraft only. The other one with two pairs of LGB's is his wingman. The other LGB flights returned with just one pair so I guess they take more than they plan on dropping. Think I heard Tain mentioned on the box.
The Seymour Johnson tanker is the 'Nacho' jet, unfortunately the light had gone by the time he rolled. I think he would have been off earlier but at the last moment Mildenhall had to contact Seymour Johnson Ops to get a wavier for him due to a 'non-standard fuel load'. If that had been sorted out before he taxied, I think he would have come out before the 100th birds!

Great pictures in some gorgeous light. And nice catch on those F-15's with that interesting weapon load!
