They are nothing more than amazing, have to agree with other posters that I struggle to get static shots that sharp. They are pure quality and some great images other non-related plane pictures on your website.

Thanks again everyone for the very kind comments.

Re: prior knowledge -- I had no clue this was going to happen. The COAP/Bluelife group obviously did, and I'm eternally grateful for their organization of the day. In fact, I spent the early morning drive from Las Vegas telling my folks (who tagged along and helped me shoot video while I shot stills) that they'd likely see a bunch of grey Super Hornets and maybe and F-15 or F-16... or nothing at all. How pleasantly wrong I was! This was my 5th trip to the Canyon this year, and each trip I've had something new/interesting happen:

1) Feb 2016 -- first trip, 4 passes, Super Hornets
2) June 2016 -- 106 degrees, 16 passes -- Super Hornets, Fouga Magister, F-15s, F-16s
3) Oct 2016 #1 -- 8 passes -- A couple Growlers and the rest grey Hornets
4) Oct 2016 #2 -- 10 passes -- Danish F-16, AV-8B Harrier
5) Nov 2016 -- Epic day 84 passes, F-15s, Scooter, and the F-35A and C air show

I know a lot of the folks that I've met from the UK, EU, and Australia go and spend a week or two (or more) and they end up catching a wide variety of passes. The place really does have an element of luck involved -- I'm going back close to the holidays this month and fully expect to get very low (if any) numbers... or I could be surprised again, who knows?

Cheers,

Jason

I shoot with Canon 1DX Mark II bodies -- most of these were taken with the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II lens -- some I put the 1.4x softner... I mean teleconverter... on for extra reach. A lot of the passes were very very close, so the 400mm prime was just fine. 300mm would've been too short for where I was standing (further down towards the middle/end of the canyon, but not at the exit as a lot of folks were).

Cheers,

Jason

I'm normally loath to use the word "stunning" to describe images, as it's used far to often.

That being said, these are stunning.

Image 12 is the standout for me - the distortion around the fuselage is just incredible. Thanks so much for sharing these!

The other 38 posters have said it all.
What a great set of images.
