Hi Phil,

Nice log, I'm pretty sure that is the first sighting of ZZ527 Wildcat AH1 for the AAC. I believe this is the last one to be delivered for the British as well!

Cheers

Monday 28th November 2016
Out on an overcast and autumn-y ramp at 08:45 were:

ZJ122/F - Merlin HC4 grey scheme
TNI-AU Merlin Mk? - for Indonesia? Gloss Green/Green/Brown camo, hi viz red/white roundel and fin flash, black serial on boom, no rotors and many panels missing. Towed out of the flight hangar towards the west end.

Wasn't aware Indonesia had ordered Merlin(s)? I could also see a White Turkmenistan Merlin in the flight hangars - is this one back for spannering or a new one?

Cheers
Malcolm

Malcolm,

The Turkmenistan should be EZ-S714 It was in the flight shed on 17th August with sister 715 out on the flight line.. I believe 715 went back through Stansted not long after

The Indonesian Merlin was towed back in to the flight shed circa 13.00 today. Its place on the Wash Rack was taken By Aw189 G-MCGO- possibly its first airing and yes I know you dont collect these ( Not Mil) but may be of interest to others.

Colin

There does appear to be a few strange gaps in the construction numbers for the Norwegian Merlins. Uk Serials list :
UKSERIALS Type EH101 wrote: 50260 ZR355 AgustaWestland AW.101 611 HH-101 For AMI as MM81867
50261 ZR356 AgustaWestland AW.101 611 HH-101 For AMI as MM81868
50262 ZZ100 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 f/f 21/03/2016, for RNoAF 0262
50263 ZR357 AgustaWestland AW.101 611 HH-101 For AMI as MM81869
50264 ZZ101 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0264
50265 ZZ102 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0265
50268 ZZ103 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0268
50270 ZZ104 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0270
50273 ZZ105 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0273
50275 ZZ106 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0275
50276 ZZ107 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0276
50277 ZZ108 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0277
50278 ZZ109 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0278
50279 ZZ110 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0279
50280 ZZ111 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0280
50281 ZZ112 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0281
50282 ZZ113 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0282
50283 ZZ114 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0283
50284 ZZ115 AgustaWestland AW.101 612 For RNoAF 0284
So con numbers 50266, 50267, 50269, 50271, 50272 and 50274 are unaccounted for. Plus of course the remaining cancelled Indians and the illusive Azerbaijani.

The serial "TNI-AU" smells funny to me though, since this is the initials of the Indonesian Air Force. Also, this aircraft is in camo, which seems unusual for a VVIP aircraft.

EDIT : A quick google for Indonesian Pumas show they mostly carry "TNI-AU" on the boom, so it appears this is just a national identifier and not the serial.

Arch,
If my notes are keeping pace, then India 6 went on to become Company demonstrator ZR343. Did you note this one in March?

Those missing c/n will most likely be for future ITAF HH-101s

Or even ZJ122 coded F.
Us regulars knew what you meant Rich, and have seen others display a bit of inadvertent nostalgia over that airframe this last week or two ;)
