That's a joke, right?

The NOTAM is quite straightforward. At Kendrew Barracks, which is in the vicinity of Stamford, there will be intense aerial activity and tactical landings. They will use frequency 247.100 or 122.100.

Thanks for a more intelligent reply. I understand the notam but as Cottesmore runway has been out of action since the army moved in I was surprised by the mention of "tactical landings" I am assuming it will be helicopters but wondered if any one new any more?

It's for the French currently operating out of Wattisham.

:thumb: :D

 :) Of course the weather forecast is not too optimistic but at least it is nearer to home than most.

It was formerly RAF Cottesmore but you all know that! There used to be Harriers and Buzzards. Now the Buzzards have Red Kites for company.

 thank you for the info. :)

I've had reports of RRR 4421 A400 being active on that frequency, landing and parking up but not been seen doing either of these at Cottesmore itself.

If the activity that went on today, up to 1824hrs was anyone's definition of "intense ", then I would not wish to be there on a slow day!
Radar aerial revolved but that became same - ish by late afternoon.
A light, a red one, located on the temporary C/T began flashing. Dah, dah, dit, dit, dit sometime before the sun set.

Nice crowd of people though. :)

Could have been stealth ?

Apparently the issue today was a lack of fire cover (thus all movements were merely 'simulated'. Not sure if we can expect anything different tomorrow....

Save your fuel

Radar dismantled starting midday, Thursday.

We hope that RAF Coningsby proved a worthwhile trip for our younger members. Nice to see you again.
Here's to the next exercise, remember to bring the bats and ball. ;)
