Favourite aircraft engine sounds.

Post by reheat » Wed Aug 05, 2015 10:50 am

Hi all.

We have all seen and heard some wonderful looking and sounding aircraft over the years, and was wondering what everyone's favourite aircraft sound was.

Here are my top three.

No.3. Shackleton.

No.2. The Vulcan howl.

And at No.1. the wonderful Starfighter howl.

Loosely associated, I loved the sound of the Lightning being kick started at Binbrook years ago in happier days.

What's yours?
Regards,

Steve.

Starfighter, Hunter blue note, DB601 when the supercharger properly whistles.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

C-5 Galaxy spooling up for take off.
Any Merlin powered aircraft.
Chinook.
A-10.
The little whiiiiirp sound that the F-15's make when they flick on the re-heat for take off, as heard on this clip at 02.17...

Easy..........a C-5A on back taxi on runway 11 at RAF Mildenhall while standing on the scaffold (as it was then) in Johns field at 22.30 as it spooled up. My eyes exploded, my ears bled and I soiled myself    but it was worth it
The last time I saw an F22 at Lakenheath i DIDN'T photoshop it...
