i.e. the MATZ activation NOTAM runs until 2200 on 26 June , A/D & runway active NOTAMS are posted separately for individual &/or series of movements.

Don't think I'm reading that wrong, but looks like a standard week-long NOTAM?
Looks like it's open from 6th till 10th inclusive??

It is but folk in the know are convinced they will be arriving tomorrow around midday. If they are going to make those timings they will have to depart soonish. There is also a corresponding ALTRV that would fit the profile. MOD Police have also told people that they will be on duty tomorrow. We will only know for sure if some of the good people on here get them on comms on the way over. The Fairford NOTAM could be posted very late indeed.

Current time at Whiteman is 1334hrs as I type. If the ETA at Fairford is midday our time tomorrow and a flight time of around 9 hours then they won't depart until around 0400/0500 our time tomorrow morning (2200/2300hrs Whiteman time) if they do come tomorrow. You told us this morning that they would be leaving soonish which would entail a 24+ hour flight??

I'm sure they'll be picked up fairly early in flight so you guys will all get plenty of warning.

If I remember correctly there is no time laid down regarding the issue of NOTAM's other than "it should be done promptly" - as soon as activity is known.
The "should be" doesn't compel the base to give aviators hours of notice which accounts for the differences in warning times as they deem appropriate. Of course there are flight safety implications here because the later the NOTAM is issued increases the possibility that a pilot overflying the area may not know the ATZ is open. An example of this could be if the NOTAM is issued while the pilot is in flight and not communicating with an ATC unit having previously checked the NOTAM's shortly before take off and seen no activity proposed.

Anyone know why the 52s and 2s fly in separately?

I would guess the air traffic controllers would not want 5 aircraft in formation if they were half a mile apart that's a big formation over 5 aircraft.just guessing hear

Because they're from entirely separate units and bases?

This may be your answer..

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
