Now this is the kind of posts I like, a/c caught on the chance during normal operations. I'm I right in saying there's at least 7(maybe 8) different F-4's in those shots?

Would love to see anymore you may have from Machrihanish or anywhere else for that matter.

Great post - I like operational shots like these as well, particularly from bases off the beaten track like Machrihanish.

Some of us down south also got to see some of these because the EA/A-6's involved staged through Upper Heyford - filmed WK03,WK04,WK07,WK08 plus Prowler's CY01 and CY06 when they departed from R27 on Sun 11 March'84. Missed the others as they went through earlier in the week.

Great shots, remember them coming through & I also remember those at Heyford Graham I was walking down Evesham high street on the Saturday here a rumble look up to see two A-6's, didn't expect that...

Yeh, its one thing to see examples of these in museums now, but to see them operational back in the day

Brilliant post thanks . Remember dropping by there early 80's just a USN C-130T on that southern ramp plus 4 x Canberra TT18's on detachment from Wyton on easterly dispersal. Loads of USN personnel (SEALS ?) on training run (bare chested) - only time my missus showed any interest ! Sadly no pics (of the a/c that is).

Sherriff, I do have some more but the quality is not as good, either because of the angle or shadowy evidence of the security fence. However, will put some more up a bit later with different a/c.

There were 23 F-4Ss present from four squadrons together with 9 A-6Es and 2 EA-6Bs. Not all were photographable from the fenceline.
