Jim Jones Revue last night at The Forum Kentish Town, their last ever gig. Really high energy punky rock n' roll. Saw Hayseed Dixie a few weeks ago too, well worth it, they'll be touring again in the new year.

The Genesis documentary was pretty good, thought it could have been split over a couple of programs, it seemed rushed towards the end. What's the best Genesis album to check out from there early stuff?

Selling England By The Pound is my favourite of the earlyish stuff, Nursery Cryme is pretty good too. The albums all have their own atmosphere and style, I think a compilation album would miss that myself.

Just download spotify and away you go. I only downloaded it a few weeks ago and its fantastic. I like the radio function where you type in a song, and it plays loads of other stuff you might like.

If you like the early Genesis stuff, and would like to hear it live, go and see Steve Hackett (former Genesis guitarist) on this year's tour. I went last year and it was the best gig I have been to by miles. See below for the dates....I am going to see him on the 29th at Southampton, and can't wait!

I think it's really good. Zep are my favourite band but the stuff Plant's doing now is excellent, and I'd rather he kept on following the path he's on than Zep reformed in some guise. Page needs to do something new, not keep re-hashing the 70's heyday.

Saw Johnny Marr at the DeLaWarr Pavillion at Bexhill on Wednesday, there's someone who can acknowledge their past while still progressing, excellent gig. Bit of 80's throwback tomorrow night, seeing The Beat in Brighton.

Thought Steve Hackett was rather ignored. He was so much a part of the early Genesis sound.

He's done some fantastic music, especially in the 80's and his Led Zeppelin days his new album is good but it'd be more better if he rocked it up a bit more.
It's like when he was at Glastonbury this year and did Whole Lotta Love started off good then just went folk.Jimmy Page is doing some new music aswell I think he's the only one really that's still got interest in Led Zeppelin because he's remastering a few of the albums and Robert Plant has played no part in doing that at all.

Zep are my favourite band, but the latest remasters really don't interest me. If a version of a song wasn't good enough to release then it isn't now. Plenty of Zep gigs were recorded, with some legendary performances, why not release them ? I like Plant's reworkings of Zep songs, only notable exception was when he did Over The Hills And Far Away on the Band of Joy tour. I really would like to see Plant & Page work together again, but not as Led Zep, and with new material.

Last night I saw The Beat (Mirror In the Bathroom, Hands Off She's Mine), excellent ska & dub, well worth a look. Venue was Concorde2 in Brighton, good place to see a band.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been charged with trying to hire a hitman :O
Drummer Phil faces up to 10 years in jail if convicted of attempting to procure murder of 2 men
AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has appeared in a New Zealand court charged with attempting to procure the murder of two men.

The 60-year-old was arrested early this morning when his home in Tauranga was raided by police, acting on information received from a member of the public. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between September 25 and 26 this year.

He later entered no plea at Tauranga District Court to the main charge, plus additional charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and threatening to kill. If found guilty, he could face a jail sentence of up to 10 years.

Investigating officers have named the two intended victims and the person who was to carry out the killings, but the information was suppressed by Judge Louis Bidois.

Rudd was released on bail and will return to court in three weeks, Stuff.co.nz reported. He made no statement as he left the building.

The drummer became the subject of speculation when he failed to appear for a video shoot in London last month, ahead of the release of AC/DC’s 16th album Rock Or Bust on December 1. The band later released a press photo that didn’t feature Rudd, but offered no explanation. Frontman Brian Johnson is said to have told fans during the shoot that Rudd was absent for family reasons.

Rock Or Bust will be the Aussie giants’ first album without mainman Malcolm Young, who’s been forced to retire as a result of dementia.
