Many of the airframes did go into storage in their hangars, and apparently have been kept in a condition where they could be activated again if ever required.

And there's plenty more where that came from!

Have my own thoughts that they have been fitted with remote systems from the likes of Global hawks or preditor systems,
making them a good cheap and cost effective stealth system.

A photo of an aircraft taxiing is not proof that it flew. Fast taxi, engine tests, towing to a different hangar, filming, target practice. Could be anything.

I'm also fairly sure if there was anything even remotely interesting going on here it would be done under the cover of darkness, as was the modus operandi for the F117 during it's hidden development years at Tonopah.

The jet looks to be dragging a brake chute behind it. Must have been a very fast taxi to need a chute to stop on a 12000ft runway. :ninja:

Of course its still flying! Why would it not be? but how do you go about making a secret programme secret again? Firstly and very publicly you retire it, release a few photos of them sat In hangars, release footage of one or two getting scrapped, then go quiet about them for a few years.........in the mean time the whole programme is handed over to the CIA who know how to keep a black programme black!!! :ninja: :ninja:

Ah but a perfect smokescreen for something else.

Leak some pictures of the F117 flying, announce it's tests new SAM/Detection stuff. People then assume strange movements at night are the F117 so nothing sinister going on but .............
