If you are still in the UK on 17th & 18th May you might like to finish off your trip with a visit to this V-Force event at Newark! :halo:

Have a great trip!

If it's a quiet day at Waddington you'll have to come over to Newark - lots of people do!

Marham might be quiet, it's coming up to a Herrick hand over so only 31 Sqn should be home. Apart from the rear parties etc

I spent a day at Lakenheath a couple of weeks ago, very busy, launches started at 8am and flying finished about 4pm, a total of about 30 Eagles launched and recovered, mostly Strike Eagles. Mildenhall is always relatively busy with KC-135 and C-130 traffic and now CV-22s occasionally plus the usual visitors. I'd recommend a day in the Mach Loop if you haven't been too. Coningsby is always fairly busy, when I went last year I had about 15 Typhoon launches over the course of the day plus you can tour the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight hangar too which is nice if you'd like to see them close-up.

Niels

Sorry completely forgot to reply, with only one squadron at Marham it's hard to say how much activity there will be. Could be around the same amount as Volkel though. BAe would have a jet up too on an air test also

RAF police are usually ok it you stick to the usual spotting areas. Worth reading through http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk ... /index.php if you haven't already

Base security at most places is hidden and you won't have any problems if you're in the designated viewing areas.

Lakenheath has been quite strict since 9/11 though and you can expect attention from base police the moment you go anywhere off the beaten track there... I think there's a local nutter group who occasionally try to break in and protest too so it's not really surprising...

Common sense must be exercised. If you erect ladders against the perimeter fence then you will get negative attention from base security.

As with anything, if they come to talk to you just be courteous and friendly and you won't have any problems :thumb:

Scanners - OK
Ladders - OK as long as they're back from the fence
Facilities - I've never had any problems, but maybe best to not take loads of piccies of the base when there's no jets around!

it's mostly been there since it was delivered, apart from the odd bit of time in the hangar. It's not going anywhere fast just yet.
