Thanks for confirmation of the timing on this one Gary!

Can anyone offer any wisdom as to the best place to park, and view from, at Cranwell please?

Cheers! :thumb:

Have a look at this page.

I've photographed training from A/B - but be very careful of the A17 !

Cheers Viv - yes, I was looking at point B on there - looks like the best bet if I can get parked up OK. :)

That corner (with the side road) is enough for 5/6 cars, so should be fine.

I may be there myself.........

Might you indeed - that'd be fun! (could I apply for a temporary loan of a *cough* small item from you again do you think?) ;)

Still wondering about timings for the earlier part of the day - hoping they might work favourably too...

Indeed - depends if the big noisy one is up at 13:00 that day :halo:

I think that could be arranged for said item ;) ;)

 :D Thank you! I'd assumed the big noisy marshmallow-toaster would be up, but he's not been doing every day has he, so we'll see.

We watched it today, as apparently did the children at the local primary school!

It's interesting to watch it at this time of year, early in the full 9-ship gestation, and seeing the "rough edges", particularly in the 9-ship manoeuvres. It makes you appreciate all the effort and hard that goes in at Scampton and Akrotiri before the team make their polished public debut in May or June. :)

A visit to RAF Scampton during the period October to March will always be worth the time. If the Red Arrows spend time practising their craft, we should show our appreciation by standing in the cold wind!

Great fun to watch their progress. However, do not use the viewing cage unless sent there! It is almost the worst place from which to see them fly. At this time of the year, there can be two full displays. :D Over the last few weeks they have looked very smooth.

Their very first 9-ship back on the final day of February looked amazing - really tight and smooth, since then I suspect they've changed how they're working as everything has loosened out a bit. It's interesting watching them over the period of a few weeks, but with each viewing a week apart, seeing how things change, evolve and are polished. Some days it's endless practising of just one of two items per each section of the formation - Enid were concentrating heavily on rollbacks and Twister when I was up last. Other sessions they're working on the thing as a whole, targetting timings, or tightness in the formations, or flatness in the rolls....you feel as though you learn a bit more each time you see them! A fascinating process to see.
