Re: New to Sims
Your system should run both FS9 and FSX pretty damn well, but ideally you would need to upgrade the graphics to get better results then using the on-board graphics chip.
I recently purchased a GT640 for £50 from a CEX which I'm running on an older processor etc and honestly get between 20-30fps in both sim's using the card.

Re: New to Sims
CPU is ok, and that's what matters for FSX. I wouldn't expect miracles, medium settings and 25-30fps should be possible.
Re: New to Sims
cheers guys for the info, just wanted to know i could feasibly run it, as stated, if i got into it id get a decent desktop to run it on etc. Couple more questions if anyone can answer, if i buy a second hand game can it still be used/registered? I read somewhere that fsx gold wont run on Win 7 64. Any truth?

Re: New to Sims
Will work fine, you may need to ring MS up to do it but it'll work.
No truth whatsoever.

Re: New to Sims
Hi benji as Chris said FSX should work fine under windows 7 x64, at least I haven't had any issues with it in the time i have used it. but as Chris said as well if you do run into problems MS or even here might be able to help you resolve your problems. and you have just picked a good time to get into the flightsim community as the Just flight English electric Canberra PR9 is due for release next week..
also for scenery I highly recommend Military AI works for Military scenery and AI packs, simviation offers quite a few decent freebie aircraft as well.

Re: New to Sims
i''m not really the one to ask regarding a comparison between F2004 and FSX as I've only really used FSX. graphically FSX is graphically superior to 2009. that's about the limit of what I can tell you....

Re: New to Sims
got a few aircraft recommendations for you..
the Harrier, A6 intruder, EA6 prowler and A7 corsair packs from RAZBAM
anything from Iris simulations as they are top notch.
the Just flight lightning and typhoon are pretty good (and the Canberra is released on the 19th as I said in an earlier post)
and if you want a challenge I highly recommend the VRS superbug pack which is probably the most detailed FSX model I have seen to date.
and if you want heli's and want to keep things simple some of the area 51 models are pretty good if a little basic.

Re: New to Sims
don't bother with either, if you're into realism just get yourself a copy of DCS World, once you try it you will never want to launch FSx again.benji1867 wrote:Also what's people's thoughts between fs2004 and fsx?
