Japan Oct/Nov 2013 - Tsuiki, Nyutabaru

Post by p6025 » Fri Nov 08, 2013 5:28 pm

Spent a week on Kyushu, primarily to visit Nyutabaru, but conveniently Tsuiki airshow was on. Seems I picked the right week, a few people I met told me the week before the weather prevented much flying at all (as a typhoon passed by). Having really gone to catch the 301 Hikotai 40th anniversary F-4, I managed to snap it 5-days running including displaying at Tsuiki airshow I was happy. Less happy about the fact a 2-month old camera body failed on the first day! Unfortunately I also missed out, by a matter of days, on three black/red tailed F-4s the squadron had painted up for the recent "TAC Meet 2013". Here are a few quick edits.

Sunday 27th October - Tsuiki airshow

According to the sticker on the tail, 6 Hikotai were victorious in the TAC Meet 2013.

Wednesday 30th October - Nyutabaru
Another typical morning, but the afternoon was a little different. There was some kind of army demo on the ramp, including UH-1J, AH-1S and OH-6D. There were also various display practices, pair of F-15s, pair of Tsuiki F-2s, SAR pair, and F-4 (presumably all in preparation for next months airshow).

Thursday 31th October - Nyutabaru
All week the Aggressor squadron were absent - being way up north at Chitose on Hokkaido, for a couple of weeks. Luckily for me though, the seven aircraft returned home on my last day at Nyutabaru.

Friday 1st November - Tsuiki
The morning saw a couple of scramble's by pairs of F-2A - I have read since I got home that a Russian Il-20 was in the Sea of Japan - probably not unrelated.

A recently restored and installed T-33A a couple of miles from Tsuiki.

Nice selection Paul, still unsure about the Aggressor colour scheme.

Tim how the hell are you, were you been hiding the past year.

Paul,
A cracking set of shots, the anniversary jet looks great and the F-2 topside is excellent.
Cheers

That 40th Anniversary Phantom is stunning, one of the best schemes I've seen on an F-4.
