New Callsigns

Post by balamorybuzzed » Sat Jan 19, 2013 10:00 am

A couple of new callsigns heard on thursday 17th and friday 18th january:

Thurs am: Boxer( Boxer 21 and 22)
Fri lunchtime: Tempest(Tempest 31)

Tempest 31 definitely came from 6 line, I think Boxer 21 and 22 did aswell.

Cheers,

Mikey

I heard boxer being used not long after 6 arrived at Leuchars in 2010.
Cheers Niall

Boxer is a 1 Sqn callsign - I don't have any details for Tempest.

You sure Al, pretty sure last of the Jags that were 6 sqn all used Boxer, seem to remember all my number crunching days and call sign collecting Boxer was always 6, but may be wrong?

Pretty sure back in the jag days that I heard tempest being used by 6 sqn too.

Does anyone have a list of confirmed 1 Sqn callsigns, I thought I'd add callsigns to the based aircraft listing that's in the stickies ?

Is Jedi a 6 or 1 Sqn callsign ? I seem to remember 1 Sqn Harriers using it.

Tempest is a 6 Sqn call sign, they used it 18/05/2007 when 5 Jaguar's departed Coningsby for the last time enroute Cosford :( Boxer is also a 6 Sqn call sign

In the last few month's as a Harrier squadron 1(F)Sqn used Wellard & Lama so keep an ear out incase they use them :thumb: Also Giant was a frequently used call sign towards the end

Winston has been used quite regularly since the New Year and Stampede was heard last summer!

Arabest,

There was a defender doing a few approaches and circuits then landed mid afternoon, callsign Army Air 525 I believe Geoff.

Cheers,

Mikey
