IWM Lambeth @ Duxford - *Update-21Dec12*
64 large objects ranging from aircraft to vehicles to weapons from the ‘Large Exhibits Gallery’, otherwise known as the Atrium in the Imperial War Museum South Lambeth, are transferring to Duxford between September and December 2012 for storage and conservation until the redevelopment of the Atrium part of the museum is completed as part of Transforming IWM London. The first exhibits have arrived in Hangar 5 at Duxford and I’ll continue adding to this thread as and when I come across any more.

This arrived during the morning and couldn't find the info board.

Re: IWM Lambeth @ Duxford - *Update-09Nov12*
Heavy hardware from Lambeth has turned up in the last couple of days. A WWI British MkV and a Russian WWII T34/85 tanks are in hangar 5 while today a WWII German Jagpanther Tank arrived. It was positioned out side the AAM first for a group photo with the Museum movers & shifters before it was off loaded outside the Land Warfare Hall. Although tethered by a cable and winch, it rolled off the back of the flat bed under its own weight & gravity. It did need a push at the end though.

The silver 'Duvet' around the cockpit is, I was told, a shielding requirement for transporting radio-active materials. In this case the cockpit instruments/dials. Yes there was a man with a Geiger Counter that went click, click, click when he held it up to the shielding but fortunately no high pitched noise.
