Re: Any spotter in the falklands
Anytime before MPN was a good time to be down there. Spent some at Navy Point myself when I was on JHSU hooking. Great shots Mr B!
Aviation, breath it in your lungs will stain.

Re: Any spotter in the falklands
Moved to the Nostalgia section, wonderful shots, any more please ?
Re: Any spotter in the falklands
Not strictly nostalgic but I've got loads of pics from my det down there in 2010, although mostly wildlife and tourist related!
I was down there as part of the 1312 flight engineering team making sure the transition from C-130K to C-130J went smoothly. Here's some of the more aviation related shots, including some on board pictures of the inaugural J flypast of Stanley and a couple of beating up Stanley runway a 'a bit below' 100ft!
Not the best quality I know, but I only take my little point and shoot on dets with me

Re: Any spotter in the falklands
Nice too see it again, was there 20 yrs ago this month, some pics to follow.
Re: Any spotter in the falklands
Great thread! Absolutely awesome stuff of our beautiful Falklands and rarely snapped fantastic armed forces down there! Superb! MORE!! MORE!!
Those poor old Argies, a whole 300 (not 3 or 13) miles away... First we keep making more oil discoveries around the islands and estimates of the amount of the stuff there just keep going up and up*, then our future king big Willy's soon off there to teasingly chuck his chopper around the place, and now our lovely island of St Helena's finally getting its airport, that'll be a bit closer than Ascension Island to the Falklands and be completed by 2015, strategically giving our armed forces another optional staging post down to the South Atlantic. It'll just about be able to take passenger/trooping aircraft up to B757/B737/A320 size and, much to the Argies joy, mil' stuff like Herc's, A400s, C-17s, Tiffies and Tonka's.
*Don't tell indie loon Salmond though or he'll go claiming all that lot for Scotland as well!

Re: Any spotter in the falklands
Great shots guys, I loved the stories of the penguins falling-over backwards when they were watching aircraft fly overhead !
