You're the right age but unfortunately you know too much about photography so no sorry!Spirit of Kitty Hawk wrote:So, in conclusion... Can I be a screener now?
Re: Airliners.net Rejection
It is definately a fake:
(1) The sun is obviously high - so where is the shadow from the smoke (last time I checked, red smoke gave a black shadow)
(2) Full flaps - hmmmmm, not for takeoff
(3) Landing light is on - this is interlinked with the gear being down on most aircraft isn't it?
As people have said, it is a good effort - but like the little green man caught on live Peruvian TV, it is a fake
Cheers
Steve

Re: Airliners.net Rejection
Quite a lot of people think that, but no, you can deploy the lights separately on most aircraftsteve149c wrote:(3) Landing light is on - this is interlinked with the gear being down on most aircraft isn't it?

Thread tidied, play nice chaps.
Re: Airliners.net Rejection
The video is great - but it has a major flaw:
The silhoeutte for the cameraman in the film is right out infront of him, ie sun low behind - but in the photo of the jet, the sun is high.
I must admit that it is really well done, and all points to the crew for trying!!
Cheers

Re: Airliners.net Rejection
Although all good points into believing it's a fake, however alot of you are basing your ideas that the video and the photograph were taken on the same pass. How do we know how many passes were taken overall to achieve the end result?
Re: Airliners.net Rejection
That is indeed true, however it does not explain my reasonings...Thunder wrote:Although all good points into believing it's a fake, however alot of you are basing your ideas that the video and the photograph were taken on the same pass. Re: Airliners.net Rejection
I thought it looked like a marshaller too, but it's the reflection of the shadow of the aircraft on the runway.Spirit of Kitty Hawk wrote:Take a closer look, the nose gives it away... There is no reflection of the photographer in it, just a marshaller.
Personally I don't think it's a fake. But either way it's an impressive looking image!
Re: Airliners.net Rejection
I stand correct then! Well noticed, it is indeed the reflection from the aircraft... It's that smoke that just doesn't convince me thoughDeanW wrote:I thought it looked like a marshaller too, but it's the reflection of the shadow of the aircraft on the runway.Spirit of Kitty Hawk wrote:Take a closer look, the nose gives it away... Re: Airliners.net Rejection
It'll be rejected for ratio I think - A.net are very picky about having a 3:2 aspect ratio for the photos. You'll probably need to crop it to 1024x683px.

Sky looks blown out on my laptop?
Re: Airliners.net Rejection
It's easy enough. I can have a play with it If you would like, i will post it and show you what can be done. I don't want to post it with your permission though.

Re: Airliners.net Rejection
Yellow aircraft are a right pain, the trouble is that when you sharpen them with box standard USM, it actually over saturates the hue. I have moved away from USM sharpening into Lab mode High Pass, it's a bit of extra work but in the end it is worth it.
Looking at your picture, the cloud tones are up in the 250 mark, far too much, see if you can reduce the exposure and get them down to the 245 mark.
Have a look at this http://forums.airplane-pictures.net/ind ... harpening/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Regrettably it only works with the full version of Photoshop but it makes a difference.
If something is over saturated then it won't sharpen.

Re: Airliners.net Rejection
Bad crop/centering for this?(rejected for Motive and Centered)
http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/rej ... m175bm.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I wasn't too sure as it's a bit different, but there are other similar 3/4 fuselage shots on there.

You got the wrong one i think.
But not standard pic,s are hard to get accepted on A-net.

Could be the angle not being correct,Ben Montgomery wrote:Bad crop/centering for this?(rejected for Motive and Centered)

would have given more of the angle to include the nose art just a bit more.
