As regards Jon Egging's impeccable and highly impressive widow, I have NO DOUBT that she will be extremely well catered for financially by the Government, and, in any case, money is the least of her worries. Not everything comes down to money!!.
I SINCERELY DOUBT that the amount was anything like your suggestion. The guy saw an opportunity and managed to fool the journalist and his editor!
I too hope he passes his inapropriately acquired monies to Flt Lt Eggings widow or a service charity, but I think we know that wont be happening!
I would summise this guy will keep his head down, pity the poor fool if he ever braggs about his woeful moneygrabbing episode!
