Re: Red Arrow down Bournemouth 2011
I have heard there is a book of condolences has been opened In Bournemouth if anyone lives near by and wishes to add to it.
Maybe someone who lives near B/mouth can confirm this??????

I've been away for the weekend. This is my first chance to get online. I'm absolutely devastated by this news. I've spent many hours at Scampton on practise days photographing the team and listening to them.
I can only echo everything that has already been said. To the team, family and friends of Jon, you are in my thoughts. I have the utmost respect for you all. If I have learnt anything from my visits to Scampton, it is the pure professionalism and high standards that this team have.
RIP Jon, you will forever be amongst the best.
My tribute to you all:

As my Avatar shows, for me the Red Arrows symbolise so much, from the skill and bravado of their flying, through their use as a celebratory climax to many a fine day out, to the sense of pride that they are British. Many of my favourite images of them are in their winter practice with the scrubland and cliffs of RAF Akrotiri in the background, and we have seen many a fine shot of them on this Forum. This is a terrible loss and my thoughts are very much with the family and the team.

It is touching to see that, on many news reports, members of the public have worn Red items of clothing as a tribute to Red 4, and i must say that Jon's wife, Emma, is dignity personified.
Such a loss, but for the times we saw him, thank you.

Been thinking of this as well.Hawks922 wrote:A very Sad day, maybe as a tribute we could have subject with just images of RED 4 from this years season. My sincere deepest sympathy goes to his wife and his Family.

Not a great photo, but its worth pointing out the Marines also paid tribute to Red 4 on Sunday during the Beach assault at Bournemouth....

Re: Red Arrow down Bournemouth 2011
That's a nice touch from the Marines, same as the FC banner change - simple but does the job.

When i heard that a Red Arrow had crashed i was shocked, when i heard that the pilot had been killed my heart sank, iv'e admired the Red's for 29 years, they are skilled professional men and women and make me proud to be British. I also read that he had raised a lot of money for injured serviceman and had an article in a newspaper a while ago, what a Gent! i also read that he refused to eject and instead avoided homes and a theme park, what a sacrifice to make, which makes him a hero in my book.
RIP Mr Egging, you were a talented professional right until the very end and won't be forgotten, my condolences to his family, friends and the rest of the Red's and Blues.
God Bless

RIP John Egging.Thank you for blessing us with youre professionalissm in the sky and entertaining us with the red arrows this season.
A loss of a great professional and a from what i have read,a great human being.
It feels like a personal loss when i sit and read all the news articles on the story,my thoughts go to his family, and the whole red arrow team.I would also like to thank John Egging for his service in the RAF with the harrier force in afghanistan.
May you fly gracefully above the clouds for eternity.
