Are you aware of the 100 Billion USD deal just completed between Taiwan and the USA for the manufacture of semiconductors? As for a (any whatever) deal with China - business is business. Trade is a major contributor to peace and stability all over the world.

But Ukraine was a nation state with borders internationally recognised and supported, not least by Russian governments before Putin. At some point a line has to be drawn on the past, all Putin has done is reignited festering issues that were possibly solveable through dialogue and agreement rather than by armed force.

Trump has done massive harm to the USA's credibility world wide. He's not honouring the agreement made when Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons to guarantee the country's security

1. Trump is President of the USA, what the rest of the world thinks is not applicable.
2. Treaties - trying to undo history in rowing back on several decades of US Presidents, and others, is impossible. We are where we are, the here and now.

The steps to peace have been set out . . one step at a time.

To get those two around a table you need enablers, the US is key here, as they have the economic and military muscle to bang heads together. The USA has an oven ready plan, the UK / EU agrees that it is a start, and offers to put boots on the ground.
Talks need to start - a truce / ceasefire followed by a peace deal is the sequence.

Latvia, Estonia and Poland are all NATO countries. Any invasion from Russia would mean WW3 as NATO would have the right to throw everything at the invaders.

I thought the UK offering boots on the ground was the start of this process. If Zelensky is still arguing that peace is only possible when there is a return to its pre 2014 borders i.e. they get Crimea back then I can see why Trump is “unhappy” as that’s unlikely to happen.

The boots on the ground offer is subject to the USA giving a security guarantee. No guarantee will probably mean no boots.

Remove all military bases, personnel &equipment from Europe within say three months, cancel all contracts for American military equipment and start building our own. We have the capability, but not the political will.
